Recipe: Cabbage Pies 1 white bread recipe 1 lb ground beef 1 large yellow onion - chopped 1 head cabbage - chopped 2 cups water Prepare white bread dough. Preheat oven to 350. Brown ground beef in a large pot (stock pot). When beef is brown, add onions, cabbage, water and 1 tbsp salt. Put a lid on teh pot and cook until cabbage until cabbage and onions are done (they should be firm). Season to taste. Place mixture in a strainer to remove excess liquid. Roll out dough into 6 inch square pieces (about 1/4 inch thick). Add 1/2 cup of beef/cabbage mixture to middle of square. Brush a little water round the edge of the square. Seal by taking each corner and bring them up all together. Pinch the sides together and pinch the 4 corners together. Place in a grease 13x11 baking dish. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until tops are golden brown. NOTES: the key to this recipe is the seasoning. It does require a lot of salt. Make sure teh mixture tastes good before you put in the bread. Try ot get the mixture as dry as possible before placing in the bread.
